Walter J. Scott retired from the United States Army in 1994. He is currently an NCHSAA Referee for junior varsity football, varsity football and wrestling. He has previously served as a business owner, law enforcement officer, Onslow County volunteer fireman, North Carolina insurance agent, modular home agent, land development and project manager, and an over the road truck driver.
Commissioner Scott is a native of Onslow County and has resided in the Richlands area for nearly 30 years. Together, he and his wife Lora have 5 sons and nine grandchildren.
Commissioner Scott is an active member of the community and is a VFW Life member, DAV Life member, NRA member, and the Jacksonville Breakfast Rotary Club’s former president. He currently serves on the Consolidated Human Services Advisory Committee, Onslow Civic Affairs Committee, and the Trillium Advisory Board. Commissioner Scott is also appointed to the following NCACC Steering committees: Agriculture, Justice and Public Safety, and Health and Human Services.
Commissioner Scott is serving his first term as an Onslow County Commissioner. He has an open-door policy and a proven track record for listening to citizen issues and concerns. He is committed to making himself available to the residents of Onslow County.
