ONSLOW COUNTY, NC—Onslow County Museum will host a special presentation by local historian Dennis E. Jones for the newly-published book The Architectural History of Jones County, North Carolina. The book, written by architectural historian Christina R. Moon, surveys the architecture of Jones County’s historic homes, farms, churches, schools, government buildings, and business properties. The publication traces the story of the agricultural community beginning in the early 18th century.
Dennis E. Jones, an active member of the Jones and Onslow County Historical Societies, served as the publication chairperson for the book and as an important, local resource to the author. A retired educator, Jones has deep roots in both Jones and Onslow Counties. Focusing on a series of featured sites detailed in the new publication, Jones’ presentation will highlight the close family, historical, political, commercial, and agricultural ties between the two counties.
The program will be held in the Onslow County Museum multipurpose room on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
