Important! Please read and share this with anyone you know, especially elderly citizens who are being victimized by these scams.

We have received numerous complaints from citizens saying they are receiving phone calls and texts from people claiming to be supervisors from the Onslow County Sherrif's Office demanding money for failure to report to jury duty.

This is a scam!

We have posted several times in the past regarding various scams where the very convincing scammer presents himself to be a supervisor from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office. We are again having an influx of calls where the scammer demands money to avoid a citation for failing to appear for jury duty. It is a scam.

The Sheriff's Office, the Clerk of Court, and any staff member of Onslow County Courts will NOT call and demand money for any reason or threaten you with a warrant, citation or arrest demanding money for anything.

Please protect yourself, your family, your property, your friends, and neighbors by not failing for these scams.

Again, the Sheriff's Office, Clerk of Court, and the Onslow County Courthouse staff WILL NOT call and demand money for anything.
