Holiday Booze It & Lose It Campaign Kicks Off

Booze It Lose It

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is kicking off the holiday 2022 Booze It & Lose It campaign beginning December 12, 2022 and running through January 1, 2023. A $25,000 grant from the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program will help double our efforts this season by paying for overtime hours for deputies. 2022 has been the worst year for highway safety in the past decade with 31 lives lost on Onslow County roads since the beginning of the year.

On average there are 3 fatal crashes every Christmas season in our community. Onslow County Sheriff's Office Colonel Shawn George says impaired driving deaths are preventable, "Call a cab, phone a friend, or app a ride. There is no reason for anyone to drive impaired this season." The Onslow County Sheriff's Office has arrested more 1,200 impaired drivers with 69 of those arrests occurring during last year's holiday campaign.
