Onslow Commissioners will meet in a regular session at 6PM, Monday, September 20, 2021 at 234 NW Corridor Blvd, the Onslow County Government Center. Among the items to be considered is a public hearing concerning the rezoning of a small tract of land from Residential 8 Manufactured housing to Community Business zoning in the Stump Sound township, and a public hearing on changes to the enforcement authority for the Minimum Housing Ordinance.
Other items include a request to carryover funds awarded to Coastal Carolina Community College for projects. The College is also asking for help with funding to finish the work on the upgrade to the Learning Resource Center.
The National Opioid Settlement is also before the Board. Onslow was one of several entities that joined a national suit against companies that are accused of causing the national Opioid crisis. The settlement would make a set award to the County and would prohibit further action against opioid companies.
A new tax software, an assurance of equity within programs of the Health Department as well as participation in the Foundation for Health Leadership and Innovation Program are also items before the Board of Commissioners.
The item on the agenda about the purchase of the former Jacksonville church will be removed from the agenda by the board after a decision to decline the purchase was made. The board will also consider an appointment to the Onslow County Jury Commission.
