The Onslow County Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) program conducts confidential reviews of resident drug overdose deaths to identify opportunities for improvement or intervention. Fatality review is a collaborative process that brings agencies together to share and discuss the circumstances leading up to the death of an individual and the response to that death. These reviews can lead to action to prevent other overdose deaths in our community.
Program Goals:
Identify missed opportunities for prevention and system gaps
Increase collaboration between local stakeholders on overdose prevention
Recommend policies, programs, or changes that prevent overdose deaths and better serve individuals at risk for overdose
Identify risk factors and common trends among overdoses and overdose deaths
