Meet up with your fellow homeschool families for education and socialization! Get to meet new families while learning about all of the resources available the Library has to offer! Each Meetup will have a new theme!

Tai Chi
Every Tuesday; 5:30 p.m.

Tai Chi is a beautiful martial art that combines gentle movements, deep breathing, and mindfulness practices. Join us and begin your journey to find balance, tranquility, and improved well-being. This class is suitable for all individuals of all fitness levels and ages. We are excited to host Tai Chi classes with Reuben Frazier who trains at the United Martial Arts Kung Fu Academy.

Do You Want to Build a Scarecrow?

Registration Required.

Families are invited to bring old pants, shirts, etc. to build a scarecrow! Straw, rubber bands, yarn, tape, and paper bags will be provided. Take your scarecrow home and display it in your yard for the fall!

Introduce books, reading, and language through stories, songs, rhymes, and movement. Come learn fun ways to help build the early literacy skills children need to become successful readers!

All Together Now! A Cultural Celebration
Sept. 20; 2:30 p.m.
September is National Hispanic Heritage Month. We celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Join us as we learn about the interesting cultures of these countries through activities, games, foods and crafts for children.
Nov. 15; 2:30 p.m.
November is National Native American Heritage Month. Join museum director, Lisa Whitman- Grice, as she shares her knowledge of local Native people. We will expand our learning experience through fun hands-on games and activities.

Frightful Fall Festival

This after-hours family friendly program will usher in the fall season. Families are invited to enjoy games, crafts and activities with a seasonal flair. Costumes are encouraged.

NASA Family Science Night is a whole-family STEM learning curriculum specifically designed to engage middle-school-aged children and their family members together. Each 3-hour session explores basic scientific process skills and various NASA-inspired STEM themes through fun, hands-on activities. Call Sneads Ferry Library at 910-327-6471 to register.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Oct. 23-28

Families are invited to bring in a pumpkin decorated as a favorite book character. Submissions will be on display from Oct. 23-Oct. 26. Pumpkins are due by Oct. 26. Judging will take place on Friday, Oct. 27. All pumpkins must be claimed by Monday, Oct. 30.

Trivia Night • Ages 12+
Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 30; 5:00 p.m.

Challenge yourself and others’ knowledge of little-known facts at our Trivia Contest! Persons age 12 and up may be teamed with other participants for a fun evening of cranial craziness!
