Dangerous Dogs Appeals Board

Purpose

The Dangerous Dog Board will review appeals of a potentially dangerous dog or dangerous dog determinations by the Onslow County Animal Services (OCAS) Director.  The Board will develop and review policies and procedures for OCAS related to dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs.

In reviewing appeals from the OCAS Director, the Dangerous Dog Appeals Board may reverse or affirm a potentially dangerous dog or dangerous dog determination by the OCAS  Director in accordance with standards set in North Carolina General Statutes § 67-4.1.


Members & Meetings

The Dangerous Dog Appeals Board is composed of five members to serve three-year staggered terms; members are appointed by the Onslow County Board of Commissioners.

Meetings are held at the request of the OCAS Director or upon the filing on appeal pursuant to GS § 67-4.1(c).  Should a meeting be called, it will be held at Onslow County Animal Services at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina
at 7 p.m.
