Migrant Housing (water and sewer) Inspection Program:

Each year, the NC Department of Labor’s Migrant Housing Bureau requires that certain inspections be done of migrant labor camps/houses prior to occupancy. Environmental Health Specialist may conduct two of these inspections. If a potable water well exists at the migrant camp/house, an Environmental Health Specialist will collect a water sample for bacteriological testing. The fee for the water sample is $50.00. If an on-site wastewater treatment and disposal (septic) system is used at the migrant camp/house, a visual inspection of the system is made to see if it appears to be in good working order. This inspection also has a $50.00 fee. A report on the water quality and wastewater system goes to the Department of Labor for their files.
