Onslow County Senior Services is committed to serving older adults through programs designed to enhance their ability to remain independent, preserve their right to self determination and maintain their social, emotional and physical well being.
What is Adult Day Care?
Adult day care provides supervised care for adults in a homelike atmosphere as an alternative to long term care placement, while allowing the individual to continue their involvement in the community. The program strives to help each person maintain individual dignity, self identity and enhance their quality of life. The New Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care offers a variety of planned activities to meet the individual's needs.
Who should attend an adult day care?
Adults who:
•have physical impairments that require assistance or supervision
•have memory loss or cognitive impairments that interferes with daily functioning
•have caregivers in need of respite
The adult day care is typically designed for persons aged 55 and over, however, special consideration may be given to those under 55 whose needs may be met in an adult day care setting.
What are the benefits to the family and the participants?
•offers respite to the full time care giver
•allows family members time for employment or school opportunities
•allows the family to take daily trips
•provides less costly care than in-home or long term care
•enables the family to remain together longer, delaying long term care admissions
•provides opportunities for companionship and socialization
•provides nutritious hot lunches and snacks
•supports constant supervision, rest and relaxation combined with a light exercise program
•participants may attend full-time or part-time
What activities do we provide?
•educational programs

•daily walks and outdoor games when weather permits
•music/sing-a-longs

•rest and relaxation
What Services do we provide?
•approved food service will provide a hot nutritious noon meal
•morning and afternoon snacks are served
•supervision of medications by certified nurses aide with RN on call
•transportation to and from the center may be arranged if necessary
•monthly support groups are available to family members
What are the Fees and Application Process?
•the cost is $35.00 a day and payment may be arranged on a weekly or monthly basis, payable in advance
•there will be a late fee charged of $12.00 per hour for every hour after 5:pm
•a medical report form completed by the physician within 30 days of admission
•a visit to the center by the applicant accompanied by a family member
•a trial period at the center for participant
