The Solid Waste Management Ordinance was adopted by the Onslow County Board of Commissioners to promote the public safety, health and welfare of the citizens of Onslow County. The ordinance regulates the storage, collection and disposal of solid waste in the unincorporated areas of the county.
Illegal Dumping - Article III, Section 302.2 and 302.3 of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance prohibits the accumulation of trash and requires trash to be kept in a covered trash receptacle.

Littering - Article III, Section 1302.3(f) of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance prohibits littering on public or private property.

Nuisance - Article VII, Section 302.9 of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance prohibits nuisances to be created or allowed to remain on a property. A nuisance can be accumulated junk, trash, inoperable equipment, construction debris, dead animals or anything causing a foul odor or posing a health risk.

Abandoned Mobile Homes - Section 702.4 of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance requires the removal of abandoned mobile homes. Onslow County has an assistance program for qualified property owners.
Abandoned Vehicles - Permitting the abandonment of vehicles on public or private property is prohibited by Article IV of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance.

Accumulated Junk - Dilapidated furniture, appliances, machinery, building material, equipment which may be rusted, wrecked, junked, dismantled or inoperable must be kept outside of public view according to Article III, Section 302.3 of the Onslow County Solid Waste Ordinance.
