1. How are plumbing fixture requirements calculated for a project?: The first step is to determine occupancy load of the space using Table 1004.1.2 in the NC Building code. Once this is established review Section 403 of the NC Plumbing Code along with table 403.1 to determine your minimum fixture count. Do I need a permit to install low voltage wiring (phone & data, fire alarm, HVAC control wiring, etc.) in Onslow County?: Yes, you will need to submit an electrical permit application to the Permit Counter. If this wiring is part of a larger overall project under construction, the electrical permit application will need to have the 6 digit county project number of the larger project. 4. Do I need a permit to build an ADA Accessible Ramp?: Yes. Submit 2 sets of drawings and a Building Permit application. What are the requirements for a new business locating in an existing building?: You will need zoning department approval and possibly an approval from your local sewer provider or the environmental health department. You may contact our office to receive information on the assigned inspection and a contact number for them in order to coordinate an estimated time of the day the inspection will occur.
