ONSLOW COUNTY, NC— The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Onslow County Consolidated Human Services Agency (CHSA) Building on Thursday, June 01, 2017 at 9 a.m. at 612 College Street in Jacksonville, NC. Following the ceremony, staff will give guided tours of the new facility to the public.
The design of the CHSA Building began in the spring of 2014 with Smith Sinnett Architecture overseeing the design of the structure. Clancy & Theys Construction Company was contracted to manage construction of the building. A groundbreaking for the construction was held in September of 2015. In April 2017, employees began moving into the CHSA Building. The final phase of the project includes demolition of the old Onslow County Health Department building and completion of the adjacent parking lot, which is projected to be finished in early 2018.
The CHSA Building will house 330 employees with Consolidated Human Services including the Onslow County Health Department and the Onslow County Department of Social Services. Many of the employees moved from the old Health Department and offices in the New River Shopping Center. The joining of these services in the one building will save Onslow County over $330,000 annually in rent. The CHSA Building is three stories in height and 89,000 square feet. Highlighted features of the new building design include immunization rooms and ample clinic space to meet the needs of various programs. New visitation spaces will offer a welcoming environment to the more than 260 children in foster care in Onslow County.
“We are grateful for the vision of our Onslow County Board of Commissioners and their commitment to providing facilities to better serve our public,” said Sheri Slater, Assistant County Manager. “We want those who visit the CHSA Building to know that they are a valued part of our community.”
The CHSA Building will be open Monday through Friday except on holidays in accordance with the established Onslow County Government calendar.
