[ARCHIVED] High school students present obstacle course to K9 teams

On Monday, March 16, students with Dixon High School and Southwest High School presented an obstacle course to Onslow County Sheriff's Office K9 teams.

The obstacles were built by students in their respective carpentry classes.  The course will be used by the K9 unit in training the dogs for public service.

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller and the carpentry course instructors said the project was a "win-win" for law enforcement and Onslow County Schools (OCS).

The partnership saved tax payer dollars and provided a rewarding technical education opportunity for the students.  According to OCS, "They [students] love types of partnerships, and they [schools] hope other community businesses and/or organizations will see this project and it will give them ideas for future partnerships."
