[ARCHIVED] Onslow County Monitoring Forest Fire

Cloud cover and light wind hampered fire spread today. There has been no change in size or containment. The fire is still estimated at 2,000 acres and 25% contained.Crews continue plowing operations to strengthen and add containment lines. The fire area is about two miles west of Highway 50.

Still no structures threatened at this time. The public is being urged to remain vigilant and continue monitoring local news for updates. Hazardous road conditions due to smoke may be a factor during the evening and overnight hours.
