ONSLOW COUNTY, NC— The North Carolina General Assembly established the North Carolina Resilient Redevelopment Planning (NCRRP) program to help facilitate rebuilding and revitalization assistance to the 50 counties and municipalities impacted by Hurricane Matthew. The purpose of this program is to empower communities throughout the state to prepare locally-driven recovery plans in order to identify redevelopment strategies, reconstruction projects, and other necessary actions. According to North Carolina Emergency Management, the resulting resilient redevelopment plans will, “be the foundation for any supplemental funding received through Congress, the North Carolina General Assembly, and other funding sources.”
The Public Meeting intends to introduce the community to the NCRRP program and gather input from the public on hurricane damages and rebuilding needs. The public’s input is critical to the development of resilient redevelopment strategies specific to Onslow County. Feedback will be included in the final Redevelopment Plans, which will be completed in May of 2017. This is the first of three projected meetings.
The first Public Meeting will be held Friday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. at:
Onslow County Government Center
234 NW Corridor Blvd.
Jacksonville, NC, 28540
