Onslow County urges residents to take precautions now for the winter storm that is forecast to arrive Thursday evening. Official forecasts warn of ice one-quarter to one-half inch thick in some areas of the county. That could produce electrical outages. If you are medically dependent on power, please plan a backup to your normal residence. Shelters will not be open and only medical emergencies should go to the hospitals.
Consider staying with a relative or friend that has a working generator or go to a hotel with a generator. Make plans now should power be lost.
There are no closing or delays announced yet.
