[ARCHIVED] Smart911 Now Available in Onslow County

Smart911 Webstory

Callers to Onslow County’s 9-1-1 center now have an option to enhance the information that operators can use to help improve emergency responses to your home or business.

Onslow County has partnered with Smart911 to offer enhanced 9-1-1 services to all Citizens. The free service can provide critical information to first responders at the time your phone connects to the Onslow County 9-1-1 center.

Information about medical conditions of residents of your home, blood types, and notes about emergency procedures you would like them to know in an emergency.

Residents can create a Safety Profile by using the Smart911 online portal or by downloading the Smart911 app. Then when a 9-1-1 call is made, the information in your Safety Profile becomes available to first responders.

The Safety Profile can include as much or as little information as residents wish to share. Many Citizens elect to share their home address, something cell phone calls are unable automatically provide to telecommunicators. It can also include information about your household such elderly members and even photos of household members.

“Having background information pop-up on the screen is a real time-saver when seconds count,” said Ray Silance, Onslow County Telecommunications Division Head. “If you have a family member with a medical condition they might not be able to communicate when there is an emergency, this program could communicate that vital information instantly when the call is made to 9-1-1.”

Create your free Safety Profile today at Smart911.com  or by downloading the Smart911 app from Google Play Store or the Apple Store. Any information you share is private and secure, is only used for emergency responses, and only made available to the 9-1-1 system in the event of an emergency call.
