On Thursday, July 1, 2021, the Onslow County Solid Waste Department’s updated fee structure will take effect. The fees were approved in the FY 2021-2022 budget. The Onslow County Solid Waste Department, including the Landfill and Convenience Sites, operates as an Enterprise Fund. As a result, no taxpayer revenue is used and the department operates solely on fees collected. The last tipping fee increase prior to fiscal year 2020 for the Onslow County Landfill was in 2009; since that time, there has been significant growth in the costs associated with maintaining operations. Fee changes reflect labor and disposal costs for intensive, hazardous, or specialty wastes.

Any Driver or Rider on the Landfill will be required to wear a Reflective Vest or Shirt.

Beginning July 1, 2021 - Safety Vests

If you or your passengers do not have a proper safety vest, one can be purchased at the Landfill for $5.00. Anyone caught not following safety vest procedure when visiting the Landfill will be charged a $50.00 fine.
